What to Expect During Your Kitchen Remodel
A kitchen renovation is a major undertaking, but a well-managed process can make it a smooth and exciting experience. Knowing what to expect at each stage will help you prepare for the transformation. Here’s a look at the typical kitchen remodel timeline.
1. The Preparation Phase (3-8 weeks)
This phase is all about planning. We’ll work closely with you to finalize a kitchen design plan, select all materials (from kitchen cabinetry and countertops to appliances and fixtures), and secure all necessary permits. A large part of this time is dedicated to ordering and waiting for materials to be delivered. We recommend not starting demolition until all key components have arrived to avoid delays.
2. Demolition & “Rough-In” Work (1-2 weeks)
This is when things get dusty! We will carefully demolish your old kitchen, removing cabinets, flooring, and appliances. Following demolition, our plumbers and electricians will complete the “rough-in” work. This includes installing new plumbing and electrical lines behind the walls to accommodate your new layout. This is a crucial step for the safety and functionality of your new kitchen.
3. Installation (3-5 weeks)
The new kitchen begins to take shape. This stage starts with the installation of new drywall and flooring. Once that’s complete, the new kitchen cabinets are installed, followed by the countertops. Once the countertops are in place, the sink, faucet, and appliances are installed and hooked up.
4. The Finishing Touches
As the project nears completion, our team will focus on the final details. This includes installing the backsplash, hardware on the cabinets, lighting fixtures, and any last-minute touch-ups. A final cleaning and walkthrough will ensure the space is perfect and ready for you to enjoy. The average kitchen remodel timeline can range from a few weeks for a simple update to a few months for a full, custom renovation.
